I was something of a Scooby Doo fan when I was younger, and seeing this movie recently brought back some good childhood memories. This movie and "Scooby Doo and the reluctant werewolf" were my favourite animated movies when I was a little kid. Now , of course I look at it differently , but I still have got a soft spot for it in my heart.
This was made after the "13 Ghosts" series, so Fred, Velma and Daphne are not in it. Shaggy wears a red shirt and blue pants and he has a red Mystery Machine. This might be a problem for the hardcore fans , but not for me. The story reminds me kind of a mix between "Police academy" and "The Addams family" . It's quite refreshing to see Scooby,Shaggy and Scrappy with REAL monsters , not some costumed villains. Matches, the "pet" dragon of the boarding school, is really great . The other characters are also catchy and very likable . Our heroes at first are scared of the girls, but later Shaggy and Scooby actually warm up to the girls.
This movie lacks sense sometimes - private school with only five girls ,the boys don't seem to notice or mind that girls are ghouls , during the volleyball match the players break all the rules. Still , the movie is charming , the humour is nice , characters likable and the voice-acting is fantastic.
I give it 5/10.

Well, you do know what you get when you sit down to watch any of the numerous "Scooby-Doo" adventures out there.
As was it with the 1988 animated TV movie titled "Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School". I sat down to watch it with my 12 year old son, as we happened to stumble upon it by random luck here in 2022. And not having seen it, and both of us enjoying the "Scooby-Doo" animated movies and series, of course this had to be seen too.
Personally I feel that "Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School" is aiming at a younger audience, because I found it to be a bit too silly and perhaps even aiming at a girl audience, given the majority characters in the story.
The storyline in "Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School" was pretty straight forward. However, we follow only Scooby-Doo, Scrappy-Doo and Shaggy. The rest of the gang is not in this movie.
Granted, "Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School" is from 1988, but the art style and animation is still good and very much something you immediately recognize as being in the "Scooby-Doo" franchise.
The voice acting in "Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School" was good, and that definitely added something to the overall impression of the animated movie.
"Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School", however, just wasn't outstanding. Watchable and enjoyable for what it is, yes, but it is a somewhat run-of-the-mill "Scooby-Doo" adventure.
My rating of "Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School" lands on a five out of ten stars.
