Hello,

We are writing to submit a feature request concerning the carbon footprint solution within Google Workspace. We propose integrating the carbon impact data of Gemini for Workspace directly into the Admin Console dashboards. Having this information is crucial for us, as it would allow us to accurately measure and monitor our CO² emissions from cloud services.

Main Stakes here are :

  • let know our users the energy consumption of Gemini requests.
  • knowing the environmental impacts of each Gemini LLM starting with clear energy consumption (KWh) in order to be able to make the right LLM choice balancing the needs & the environmental impact.

Hello,

Please adjust the requested sustainability indicators to be more specific. Accordingly to the INRIA recommendations the desired metrics for guiding model selection should be:

  1. Energy Consumption (kWh)

  2. Water Usage

  3. Lifespan of Compute, Data Management, and Network Equipment

Gemini for Workspace usage metrics are not currently included in the Carbon Footprint reporting available in the Admin Console. At present, the carbon impact data you see there covers core Google Workspace services and certain Google Cloud usage linked to your organization. The best path for a feature request like this is to submit feedback directly from the Admin Console using Help > Send feedback, which routes it to the Workspace product team. You can also track existing sustainability reporting features in the Google Workspace Admin Help and Google Cloud Carbon Footprint documentation to see when new services are added.
